Without the ocean and all the life in it the earth would fail to function properly only coming back to hurt humans. 3 main things that are the cause of dwindling biodiversity of the fish and mammals and everything in between are: de-oxygenation, acidification and ocean warming. And all of these are directly linked to human activities. This will ultimately lead to an altered and less efficient food web and possibly a high risk of spreading pathogens. Professor Alex Rogers of Somerville College, Oxford and Scientific Director of The International Program on the State of the Ocean (IPSO) says, " The health of the ocean is spiraling downwards far more rapidly than we had thought. We are seeing greater change, happening faster, and the effects are more imminent than previously anticipated. The situation should be of the gravest concern to everyone since everyone will be affected by changes in the ability of the ocean to support life on Earth."
